Peripheral Devices: Weight Scale and Blood Glucose Monitor

TelehealthLink™ obesity package currently includes a weight scale, a blood glucose monitor, and a small communication gateway box. The weight scale and blood glucose monitor connects to the communication gateway which sends the data to TelehealthLink™ servers near real-time via a secure Internet connection. Additional healthcare devices can be added into the package according to patient monitoring needs.

Pre-established thresholds are set for each patient by their healthcare providers. When a reading occurs outside of these thresholds, an alert is sent automatically using a pre-determined mode and the patient may be contacted by healthcare providers and/or family members.

TelehealthLink™ obesity package allows healthcare providers to monitor trends in their patients' health with accurate and timely readings. Healthcare professionals and patient management companies have greater accessibility to better information and no longer have to rely on patients to submit their own readings, while the patient, in turn, is encouraged to live a more active lifestyle.

    Why TelehealthLink™ obesity package

Obesity refers to an increase in total body fat. The easiest and most widely accepted method of determining whether you are obese is by measuring your Body Mass Index, or BMI. To calculate your BMI, your weight and height are required.

Obesity has become an epidemic in the U.S. and other developed countries. As many as one-third of all Americans are obese based on the BMI criteria. In addition to body image issues, obesity causes significant health issues. It is the second leading cause of preventable death (after smoking), and is associated with type 2 diabetes, hyperlipidemia, coronary artery disease, arthritis, gallstones, and certain types of cancer.

Daily monitoring weight and blood glucose is recommended by medical professionals to control obesity. TelehealthLink™ obesity monitoring package is designed to monitor and control obesity and lead people to a healthy life style.
