TelehealthLink automatically processes vital signs and simultaneously informs
caregivers or/and family members via e-mail, voice mail, or short messaging
service (SMS) if the patient needs immediate medical attentions. Alert services
detect exceptional health conditions from patients in timely and consistent
manner once vital signals are received by TelehealthLink servers.
Alert services retrieve preconfigured alert settings of each patient’s vital
signals from the database and store them in cache tables for performance
enhancement. Each vital signal has five alert ranges (Lowlow, low, normal,
high, and Highhigh) based on individual’s health conditions, and alert delivery
methods (email, voice mail, SMS, etc.) are configured and linked to these alert
ranges. Alert services also provide custom alert filters (vital signal
filter, time filter, alert range filter, etc.) for users to display specific
alert event data at web browsers.
